CONFIDENCE

On a very stormy, snowy day when road conditions were difficult a driver of a car glanced into his rear-view mirror and noticed his pet quietly sleeping, undisturbed by possible danger. As he thought about the dog's confidence in his care, the first stanza of the poem "Satisfied" (Poems by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 79) came to him,

"It matters not what be thy lot,
So Love doth guide;
For storm or shine, pure peace is thine,
Whate'er betide."

Was it mere coincidence that he had such a sense of security or is there a definite basis for a confidence that enables everyone to meet, undisturbed, whatever danger presents itself? The working Scientist knows that there is a firm foundation for his confidence in God, Love, and that he has found it in the teaching's and demonstration of Christian Science.
