About thirty years ago I began to study the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. This helped me to understand the Bible better, and I was healed of extreme nervousness. Through the prayerful work of a friend I was also healed of chronic constipation. A ruptured blood vessel on my lower lip developed into an abscess. I requested help of a practitioner, and the discordant condition lessened until it entirely disappeared.

In our family we have received healings through Christian Science of rupture, paralysis, severe abdominal pain, whooping cough, measles, colds, grippe, and other ailments. Occasional instances of inharmony in the family have been quickly overcome by our knowing that, as Mrs. Eddy tells us in the textbook, Science and Health (p. 71): "Evil has no reality. It is neither person, place, nor thing, but is simply a belief, an illusion of material sense."

After we had trouble with neighbors whose cattle were running loose and destroying our crops, their son threatened us. Before we had to see them again about letting their cattle run loose, I opened the textbook and read the words (pp. 103, 104), "In Christian Science, man can do no harm, for scientific thoughts are true thoughts, passing from God to man." When the son saw us he was very kind and apologized for his previous conduct. Thereafter the cattle were not allowed to bother us.
