Since taking up the study of...
Since taking up the study of Christian Science my blessings have been many. This Science came to me through my sister, who got acquainted with it while visiting relatives in the Middle West. After her return from there she was a changed person. I went along to church with her a few times and was very much impressed with the simplicity of the service. Before long I began the study of Christian Science in earnest.
When I inquired about church membership I learned that I could not join a Church of Christ, Scientist, while I still indulged in smoking. I also learned that the use of will power was not the way to overcome the habit. While reading a Sentinel I came across an article which said that seeing a false habit as enslavement and trying to give it up is not necessarily using will power. The statement aroused my thought, and I was healed instantaneously. This occurred over fifteen years ago.
More recently, while at work, I injured my left leg and side. Work in Science was taken up immediately, and there was no pain whatever. However, to satisfy my employer, X rays were taken at the hospital the next morning to determine whether or not any bones were broken. The X rays revealed fractures of the hipbone and pelvis. The doctors wanted to have my leg put in traction for six weeks to prevent it from being shorter or crippled. I silently denied the suggestion of any such possibility and affirmed that I had the best physician in the whole world to take care of me: my Father-Mother God. After relieving the hospital of all responsibility I was taken home, where I was able to study and think more clearly. In reviewing the truths I learned from class instruction I saw my true relationship to God so clearly that I knew my healing would be complete. In less than five weeks I was able to attend the Thanksgiving Day service at a downtown Church of Christ, Scientist. A week before Christmas I was back at work completely free, and I have been busy ever since. My leg is entirely normal in every respect.
