QUIET

Fanny de Groot Hastings

Quiet is not a lack of sound
But meekness and a quiet heart,
A poise, a stillness wrapping round
All turmoil that would pull apart.

It is the peace that may be felt
On city pavements, country sod,
Because it dwells where Jesus dwelt—
In oneness with the Word of God.
