CLAIM THE CHRIST

Jesus identified himself with the Christ; he knew that his spiritual selfhood was the Son of God, but he never claimed that the material concept was Godlike. He understood that the Christ is without beginning and without end and can never be separated from God. Jesus' Christly nature revealed to mortal sense the actual presence of God, Immanuel, or "God with us."

Each one of us has a spiritual selfhood which is identified with the Christ. The real man, made in the image and likeness of God, is without beginning or end and can never be separated from God. He is spiritual and eternal and has dominion over the whole earth.

Mary Baker Eddy understood her true being to be the image and likeness of God. She was so conscious of the Christ that she discovered the truth fully and clearly and was able to present it to the world. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," the textbook of Christian Science, she gives to all who are ready to accept it the truth of God and man; and she shows how the understanding of the true nature of man in relation to God can bring health, happiness, and supply. On page 316 of this textbook Mrs. Eddy writes, "The real man being linked by Science to his Maker, mortals need only turn from sin and lose sight of mortal selfhood to find Christ, the real man and his relation to God, and to recognize the divine sonship." Farther along on the same page she says: "Christ presents the indestructible man, whom Spirit creates, constitutes, and governs. Christ illustrates that blending with God, his divine Principle, which gives man dominion over all the earth."
