When I first benefited from the healing power of Christian Science I was a medical nurse, serving in a hospital. Through the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner I was healed in one week of a painful condition of rheumatism. This healing came about when I laid aside all material remedies and relied solely on the work of the practitioner and my own study.

At another time I was lifted from a state of mental depression and a feeling of being heavily burdened, brought on through a false sense of responsibility, which I learned was self-imposed. The healing came suddenly after I had pondered the words of a hymn mentioned by the practitioner (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 154),

In Thee, O Spirit true and tender,
I find my life as God's own child.
