"Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man's dominion over the whole earth. This understanding casts out error and heals the sick, and with it you can speak 'as one having authority.'" This statement from the chapter on Prayer in our textbook (p. 14), "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, recently helped me to prove my dominion over a condition of polio.

On awakening one morning I found myself gripped by acute manifestations of this disease, which was prevalent in the community. Unable to move from the bed, I declared statements of truth about man as a wholly spiritual idea of God, perfect and eternal. A Christian Science practitioner was called, and loving work was taken up to remove from my consciousness the fear which was being manifested as paralysis.

At the practitioner's recommendation the chapter on Prayer mentioned above was carefully studied. Soon my thought was flooded with a clear understanding of "the Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man's dominion over the whole earth." Also the spiritual interpretation of the Lord's Prayer on pages 16 and 17 in this same chapter was prayerfully repeated, and it brought my thought closer to the spiritual consciousness which, Mrs. Eddy tells us, instantaneously heals the sick. Gratitude to God, divine Love, for Jesus, who brought us the blessed Christ, Truth, and for Mrs. Eddy, who brought us Christian Science, soon filled my heart with joyous thanks and with the peace which always accompanies gratitude. All symptoms of the disease disappeared, and there were no aftereffects. Within a week I was again actively about my daily affairs.
