"NEVER HATE ANYTHING"

"God is Love; to love is to express God, and as God is eternal Life, if we always loved we should always express Life, and never have a belief of death. Hate is the opposite of Love, and leads to death; therefore never hate anything."

These words are recorded in "We Knew Mary Baker Eddy," Second Series, as a student's recollection of a statement made by the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science to the members of her class in 1888. They are the words of one who proved that she had a clearer sense of God as Love than any other individual since Christ Jesus taught this ideal in Galilee. This is exemplified in Mrs. Eddy's writings, and most of all in the wonderful fruitage of her divinely inspired work. Throughout her life Mrs. Eddy lived, and in her writings admonished her students to live, close to God, who is Love, so that by their reflecting Him the grace of healing would be apparent in their lives and radiate from them to bless humanity.

Christian Science teaches that God is All-in-all, as the Bible declares, and that any phase of evil is a false, lying claim that there can be a power other than God, or good. Hate claims that it is as real as Love, and death lays a similarly false claim to be as real as Life. These falsities arise in human consciousness like a mist, which tends to obscure the facts of being and to impede human ability to express the grace of healing.
