My mother was a charter member of a Church of Christ, Scientist, in Montana. As children my two sisters, two brothers, and I were taught the allness of God and His protective power. During the intervening years we have had many proofs of the healing efficacy of Christian Science in our home.

A healing I experienced a number of years ago has many times been a staff upon which to lean. While crossing the street a young woman companion and I were struck by a car, the wheels passing over my leg at the knee. The driver stopped his car and assisted us to our feet and into the car. We requested that he take us to our parked car, knowing that by being alone we could work mentally and clear our thinking.

We then drove to the home of a Christian Scientist, declaring the truth and singing some of Mrs. Eddy's hymns on the way. One of the healing thoughts that came to me was the statement from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 393), "Your body would suffer no more from tension or wounds than the trunk of a tree which you gash or the electric wire which you stretch, were it not for mortal mind."
