MIND'S ACTIVITY

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 187), "The divine Mind includes all action and volition, and man in Science is governed by this Mind." Mind is expressed through thoughts, which unlaboriously unfold in individual consciousness.

When Mind's action and volition are adopted or accepted as the remedy for ills, faith in drugs is destroyed and replaced by spiritual understanding. Mind's activity imparts an atmosphere which heals sin and sickness and so destroys the foundations of the belief in death.

This was illustrated in the following healing. An employee who failed to report for duty one day was called on the telephone at her home that evening by the employer, a Christian Scientist, who sought to know the reason for her absence. The employer was told that the employee, with her immediate family, was at the bedside of her mother, who was then in a coma. The family had been informed by the attending physician that the death of the mother was a matter of only a few hours. This prediction had been confirmed by a specialist who had been brought in as a consultant.
