LETTERS TO THE PRESS FROM CHRISTIAN SCIENCE COMMITTEES ON PUBLICATION

Tribune Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

"Two Thousand Years of Argument on a Theory" as a heading of an article in [a recent issue of your paper] has caught our attention. Your report of an address by a learned physician at the Canadian Medical Association meeting may have left an erroneous impression with your readers. We will therefore appreciate a portion of your valuable space for a correction.

The speaker is reported to have grouped Christian Science with "other sects of lay medicine ... (which) have their basis in the monistic theory." This theory is defined variously and is outlined briefly in the Encyclopædia Britannica as including "the assumption that matter and mind are identical and that each is an aspect of the other."
