It is with a deep sense of humility...

It is with a deep sense of humility and gratitude that I offer this testimony. For many years before finding the wonderful Science of Christianity I lived in constant fear of the future. The time came when I felt that I could not go on much longer, and I turned meekly to God, knowing that He was my only hope. Soon after this a friend offered to lend me her copy of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. This was a wonderful proof of God's care, for she knew nothing of my condition at that time. From the moment that I started to read the textbook the sense of dread was replaced with joy and happiness, and I felt at peace for the first time in years. There are no words that can express my gratitude.

I am grateful that many false traits of character are gradually yielding to Truth. I was healed of the need of wearing glasses while reading the testimonies in the back of Science and Health. Chronic constipation and the smoking habit were also overcome at that time. My little boy was instantaneously healed of a severe sore throat when I sat by his bed and read aloud from the textbook.

One evening my little girl became fretful and developed a high temperature. The next day the symptoms were worse: so I called a practitioner and asked for help. The practitioner lovingly assured me that all would be well. I held the little girl most of that night, and though she seemed to grow worse, I was completely free from any fear. About day break I laid the child in her crib and went to bed. I was awakened by the sound of her laughter when her brother took her out of the crib to play with her. All sign of discord had vanished. Mrs. Eddy states in Science and Health (Pref., p. xi), "The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus' time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation." I am especially grateful for this healing, for I saw more clearly than before the unreality of disease. The experience proved to me that there need be no period of convalescence.
