I feel intense gratitude to God...

I feel intense gratitude to God for Christian Science, which is taught us in Mary Baker Eddy's works. Through it the Bible teachings are clarified, and Pilate's question (John 18:38), "What is truth?" is answered and explained. A verse from The Song of Solomon (2:4), "He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love," is frequently with me.

I cannot find words to tell what Christian Science has meant to me during the last thirty-two years. All this time I have not had to stay in bed for a single day or cancel an appointment because of illness. Discord has been overcome very quickly, sometimes with a practitioner's help and sometimes without it. Both right and left arms were broken at different times and were healed in a very short time.

A painful injury to my knee was received during the blackout in World War II. This injury made my work of driving a van in London most difficult. I asked a practitioner for help, and the difficulty soon cleared away. The protection that I received in my work was wonderful. One memorable day I had eleven narrow escapes from flying bombs. I worked all the time in Science and held firmly to the beautiful promise in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 571), "Clad in the panoply of Love, human hatred cannot reach you."
