My heart is filled with gratitude...
My heart is filled with gratitude for Christian Science. It was my privilege to attend Sunday School from the age of five years. Our family was blessed in many ways by this wonderful religion. My sister was healed of diphtheria after a physician had given up hope of her recovery.
Through the application of Christian Science a diamond ring was restored to me. The ring had been lost on a grassy lawn at nighttime, and when all attempts of finding it by flashlight were given up and the understanding of God as light was relied upon the ring was found before daybreak. This demonstration was most inspiring to me and has been a valuable lesson.
When my mother passed on I was overcome with a sense of grief. It was not met at once, but I shall always be grateful for the growth I made during this testing time. When at last the feeling of love for my Father-Mother God flooded my consciousness I knew that I was healed. I realized that I had leaned on my mother's understanding of Truth for my healings, and I was gently led to glorify my Father-Mother God and look to Him for all help. Soon after this I had the glorious experience of class instruction from a teacher who had been a member of Mrs. Eddy's household. A new world opened up for me; there are no words to express my deep gratitude for this step.
I am grateful for having had the privilege of serving as Second Reader it a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, for three years. During this time I was troubled with a severe throat ailment and asked for help from a practitioner. The same day I received word that my father had passed on suddenly. The following Sunday the subject of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly was, "Are Sin, Disease, and Death Real?" Through the help of the practitioner and my holding to the thought that I was inseparable from God I was able to be in my place at the desk, and I truly felt God's presence uplifting and sustaining me. I humbly prayed that God's voice be heard. Dining the service I was healed of the throat trouble and at the same time realized the unreality of death. For this healing and for many wonderful proofs of God's protection I am very grateful.
My appreciation of Mrs. Eddy, who has revealed to us this wonderful Science of Christianity, is very great, I am thankful for membership in The Mother Church and for all the Christian Science periodicals which come into our home with their inspiring, healing truths. —(Mrs.) Madeline Angleton, Kansas City, Kansas.
As the sister referred to in the above testimony, I am happy to verity the healing of diphtheria, as well as all the other statements made. I should also like to express my gratitude for Christian Science. I have had many healings, one of the most outstanding being that of scarlet lever in two days. On another occasion, in preparing breakfast one morning I spilled hot grease over one hand. I immediately covered it with a towel and knew the truth. However, the pain was so intense that I asked my husband to call a loved one for help in Science. In about two hours all pain was gone, but there were several blisters. I kept the hand covered for a short time. New skin formed very quickly; and within one week I was able to do all my housework, including washing dishes. All signs of the burn were soon gone, and there is no scar.
I am grateful for the protection we have had in raising our daughter and for the Christian Science Sunday School, in which she has been a pupil since she was two years old. One of my most joyous experiences was class instruction from a teacher who served Mrs. Eddy in her home. My thanks are to God for revealing to Mrs. Eddy the wonderful truth which makes us free.
