It is many years since I took up...
It is many years since I took up the study of Christian Science, and so many blessings have come to me that I feel I should send in my testimony in the hope that it may encourage others to press on in times of need.
When I saw a child next door healed through Christian Science of measles and later of mumps I became interested in its teachings, for I was very much in need of healing. I was greatly helped by reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and later through the help of a faithful practitioner I was completely healed of nervous indigestion, constipation, and hemorrhoids. I was also healed of sick headaches and tonsillitis without any specific work being done.
There were many trials and testing times when, after allowing my time to be taken up with worldly pleasure and neglecting my study of Christian Science, I found myself going back to this dear practitioner for help. She very patiently and lovingly helped me to return to my books and to the study of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly.
I began to attend services in a Church of Christ, Scientist, in a nearby city and was helped by them and encouraged to press on by the loving members there. Almost immediately I took steps to become a member in order that I might do something for the religion that had already done so much for me. A few years later it was my privilege to serve a branch church as Reader. Many blessings came through that experience. For work with the children in the Sunday School, which brought many blessings and through which I learned valuable lessons, I am exceedingly grateful.
Our Christian Science periodicals are a constant help and inspiration. I could not close my testimony without expressing my gratitude to God for class instruction from a devoted teacher and for the association meeting each year. My blessings are so many that I can only say, "My cup runneth over" (Ps. 23:5). —(Mrs.) Maude G. Walden, Dedham, Massachusetts.
