I received my first healing in Christian Science before I knew anything about its teachings. For about twelve months I had had to wear a wide strap around my right wrist for support. At that time I was living in a household of Christian Scientists. One morning one of them said to me, "Why do you always wear the strap on your wrist?" I told her I could not work or use my hand without the strap support. She then asked me if I would like her to help me in Christian Science, and I consented and thanked her.

I was perplexed at the time, wondering what she could do. My surprise was very great the next morning when I was asked what had become of my strap. It was not until then that I looked for the strap and discovered I had not even put it on. There was never any further need for it. That was my first healing, and it meant the beginning of a new life. I started to attend Christian Science services and to visit the Reading Room and found great relief from all my troubles.

I have had many healings since, the most outstanding one being that of a nervous breakdown. I was very much troubled and filled with fear. The practitioner who helped me was most kind; she stood firm and declared the truth as stated in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The struggle was long, but many lessons were learned in the experience. At last I could see through the mist of aggressive mental suggestion and behold God's perfect idea surrounded by His wonderful love; then the healing was complete. Through all this time I was able to carry on my work.
