Some Individual Methods

The teaching of the Sunday School lessons as defined by Mary Baker Eddy in Article XX of the Manual of The Mother Church is the individual demonstration of the teacher. Each teacher works from the background of his own unfoldment and experience. Hence no one can tell another how to teach a Sunday School class. Often, however, it is interesting and helpful to hear of methods that others have used with good results, and many will doubtless be glad to read the following comments from two Christian Scientists who have taught Sunday School over a period of many years. One contributor writes:

"First of all I keep in thought the rules for Sunday School teaching given in the Manual and proceed accordingly.

"On taking a new class the first thing I do is to find out whether or not the pupils know their first lessons; that is, the Ten Commandments, the Lord's Prayer, with its spiritual interpretation as given in the Christian Science textbook, 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures' by Mrs. Eddy, and the Beatitudes.
