I wish to testify to the healing and saving power of Truth as taught in Christian Science. During my war service I spent a period as a physical training instructor and had the task of training a team for a competition. One day, in giving a demonstration, I fell heavily, injuring my side. I was in extreme pain and unable to do any more demonstrating. I wrote to a practitioner, and through her help in a few days I was able to enter the competition with my team and to do quite comfortably all that was necessary.

However, on leaving the forces I found that I was not placing all my weight on the side that had been injured. Finally the latent fear I held manifested itself as an abscess, which kept recurring. Each year this condition grew worse. I was compelled either to take a stand for Christian Science or to undergo an operation. I took my stand for Christian Science and endeavored to demonstrate Truth in a complete healing. After another attack the condition was destroyed through the help of a practitioner and my own trust in God.

During this experience I gained a greater understanding of the healing power of Truth and saw that error has no power or existence except what we give it. I saw mortal mind to be a liar and the father of a lie, claiming to act as a camera which can take mental pictures to be printed on the body. But I realized that there could be no film in this figurative camera, no case to carry it around in, and in fact no such camera at all, because there is only one Mind, as Mrs. Eddy teaches us—but one God. and He is good.
