My introduction to Christian Science...

My introduction to Christian Science came through the wife of my husband's business associate. I had never known anyone who expressed so much gentleness, peace, joy, assurance, and poise.

In time I asked her about her religious belief, for I had been brought up in a religious home and attributed her graciousness to her religious training. She told me that she had spent many years as an invalid; all had seemed hopeless, and materia medica could do no more for her. Then a neighbor told her that Christian Science could help her and that many people had been healed by reading the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

My friend said the neighbor directed her to a Christian Science Reading Room, where she bought a copy of the textbook and asked many questions of the librarian in charge. The librarian explained that there were practitioners on whom she could call for help in Christian Science. That evening my friend telephoned a practitioner whose name she found listed in The Christian Science Journal, and she was healed in one treatment.
