The place which Love has prepared for each of us is close at hand. Love's ideas reveal it to us, and they unfold themselves to our waiting thought and lead us to it. That is the answer which Christian Science makes to the questions so often asked: Where is my rightful place? Shall I ever get out of this painful condition or unhappy environment? Moses heard the answer when he listened to God's voice, and he repeated the divine message to the children of Israel (Ex. 23:20), "Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared." How reassuring it is to know that right now we too are being guided by angels, kept in safety, and brought into the place already prepared for us by our Father-Mother God.

The Bible records many proofs of this liberating truth. In an hour when Elisha and his servant were threatened with destruction the famous Old Testament prophet demonstrated that it is not through a physical change of environment, but through spiritual understanding, that the place prepared for us comes to light. We read in II Kings (6: 17) that in response to Elisha's prayer his servant's eyes were opened to discover that he did not need to move from the place where he was to find safety and security. There was no longer anything to fear. Instead of an attacking force, the servant now saw the mountain "full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha."

Our rightful place cannot be discerned by the physical senses. As the scales of self-pity, loneliness, and futility fall from our eyes we find ourselves safe and unharmed, in our place in the Father's mansion. When fear is stilled we can hear God's loving assurance (Luke 15: 31), "Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine." Mind, not matter, reveals man's dominion and freedom. The faculties of Mind are always active. They are not dependent for expression on matter, on nerves, or on a physical organism. Wherever Mind is—and Mind fills all space, for Mind is God— there is seeing, hearing, knowing.
