My first knowledge of Christian Science...
My first knowledge of Christian Science came to me in 1920 through my sister, who had only recently begun to study it.
I was ill physically with an internal condition that the doctors could not diagnose, and I was very miserable. The doctor, after several treatments, informed me that he had done all he could for me and that he did not expect I would live very long. I arose from my bed, dressed myself, and left on the midnight train to visit my sister, who lived in the southern part of the country. The Sunday following my arrival there I attended a Christian Science church service for the first time and heard the beautiful hymn by Mrs. Eddy beginning,
"Shepherd, show me how to go
O'er the hillside steep." (Poems, p. 14.)
