Signs of the Times
Colbert S. Cartwright in Front Rank St. Louis, Missouri
Twice in our Scripture there appears the challenge, "Come and see." First Jesus extends the invitation to two disciples of John. The second time it is the disciple Philip who challenges Nathanael with the phrase.
It becomes apparent that this invitation to "come and see" for yourself is the method by which Jesus won his followers. ... It was a way which only asked that persons really see him as he was. The sacrificial life that he lived, the words that he taught, the influence of his life on others would be sufficient to draw others out of themselves into his fellowship.
