OMNIPRESENCE

How can I be alone when daily, hourly,
I know that God's dear love companions me!
How can I lack when infinite provision,
Immutable, enfolds me constantly!

How can I sorrow when His joy is instant
To stem the tide of grief, the anguished tear;
Or fear the morrow, when in glad fulfillment
I see His sure, unerring plan appear!

How can I suffer pain? In sweet compassion
Love's liberating law awaits to bless,
Swift to assuage all ill, and calmly, gently,
Encircles me in healing tenderness.

Then praising and rejoicing, daily, hourly,
I find myself with omnipresence one,
Child of the kingdom, heritage unchallenged—
Forever Father, and forever son!
