"I WILL LOVE"

In the Bible and in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, we are taught that God is Love, divine Principle, and that He creates, guides, and governs His idea, man. This thought runs like a golden thread throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, and is taken up in Science and Health and woven into a clearer, more easily understood pattern.

God, Love, being All, His creation can express or reflect only Love. There is no place in His universe for Love's unlikeness in the shape of unloving, discordant mortals. However, one of error's subtlest claims is that we can see our fellow men thus. If this argument is detected at once as a false claim and not the truth of man, it may be denied and cast aside. But if we give it any hold in our consciousness, our demonstration of Love's presence and allness may be delayed, and much prayerful study may be required to clear away the mist of belief in something unlike God. The writer once knew of such an experience through which a student passed.

This student felt that she was alone in the world. Home, loving companions, all that made material existence seem joyous, had been taken away. She felt the need of loving, congenial companionship and longed to find someone with this same thought, but no one seemed to want the love she felt that she could give. After many days of loneliness she turned from the material sense of things and worked diligently to know the truth of God and His image, man. She studied the Bible and Science and Health regularly and prayerfully, searching for the truth they contained, knowing that this would free her.
