I should like to express my deep...

I should like to express my deep gratitude for a physical healing I had which came about through my gaining a better understanding of the fact that man is the child of God and is perfect.

For a considerable time, one of my colleagues was very antagonistic toward one of the directors of the company where we were employed. In her opinion there was practically nothing that this person was doing that was right. I let this erroneous thinking also mesmerize me, and soon I too felt a great dislike for this director. At first I did not even try to correct my thinking. Then a very unpleasant physical difficulty, which I had suffered from quite frequently before I knew of Christian Science, bleeding piles, attacked me again. I had previously been healed, as I thought, of this trouble when I understood but little of the healing power of Christian Science. I was certainly much surprised and disappointed and wanted very much to heal this by myself.

Some time later I had a helpful talk with practitioner about another problem. I was reminded over and over again that man is God's child and that we, as Christian Scientists, can know the truth concerning every individual. Immediately it came to me that I had very wrong thoughts about this director and that unless I corrected my thinking I could not expect my physical condition. Then I remembered some of the passages in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy in answer to the question, "What is man?" beginning on page 475; also the chapter on Prayer was very helpful, particularly the first two paragraphs on page 14 under the marginal heading, "Spiritualized consciousness."
