I was brought up by a good...

I was brought up by a good Christian mother. I was a regular attendant at an orthodox church and Sunday School, and I read the Bible and prayed. However, discord prevailed in our home. Most of it I attributed to evil associates of my husband, and happiness to me seemed far away.

One day when I was feeling very much discouraged, a co-worker where I was employed left a copy of the Sentinel on my desk. I picked it up several times and then put it down, each time with a feeling of disgust for what I thought Christian Science was. Then I picked it up again, and this time, as though someone had spoken to me, the thought came, Why don't you see what is in it? The first article I read dealt with harmony and happiness in the home. I read the Sentinel through and inquired of my coworker where more of this kind of reading could be found. She directed me to a friend, who very lovingly told me about the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and helped me to procure a copy to read. I have always been grateful for this kindness.

I went to see a Christian Science practitioner for help. God was lovingly guiding me, and I was shown through further study and much help that I am in reality an individual idea of God and that my happiness and harmony rest with Him. I felt His guidance every step of the way, and, I am grateful to say, a harmonious solution was worked out.
