THE IMPOTENT MAN AT BETHESDA

At any time the power was at hand.
He could have taken up his bed and gone
Along his way. It took the strong command
Spoken by Jesus to break in upon
The mesmerism of so many years,
Years he spent looking in the wrong direction,
Bowed down by superstition, sin, and fears,
In the midst of infinite perfection.

The word in season carries with it still
The sure arousing of the thoughts of men.
We learn that wholeness is to do God's will;
It has been proven time and time again.

At any time we may, as we arise,
Perceive the truer view through purer eyes.
