SIGNS OF A NEW ERA

The understanding as revealed in Christian Science that all is divine Mind and its divine and infinite manifestation is slowly dawning upon human consciousness. All that is true concerning man and the universe is to be found and understood through the Science of Christ, and not through material knowledge. In other words, metaphysics must take the place of physics and the study of physical phenomena be replaced by the spiritual understanding of God and His Christ.

The physicist is coming to a dead end in his investigations of the material universe. He has examined matter and resolved it into force. He has examined material force and finds no primal cause for its existence. The fact is, the physicist is being driven to the conclusion, long since arrived at by Mary Baker Eddy, that the basis of being is not material but spiritual, and that all sensible phenomena have their origin in the Mind that is self-existent Spirit, and not in mortal mind or human knowledge, which is the counterfeit of Spirit and spiritual truth.

Mrs. Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 124), "Physical science (so-called) is human knowledge,—a law of mortal mind, a blind belief, a Samson shorn of his strength." We live in an age when Christian Science comes to renew our vision and to turn our thoughts from matter to Mind. Christian Science is the Comforter promised by the Master and long expected by devout men and women. Jesus said (John 14:26), "The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."
