"Public Welcome"

[Extracts from letters from three branch church Reading Room committees]

We moved into our new Reading Room building soon after the first of the year. Already we have had twice as many visitors as were recorded last year in the same period of time in our former office building location. Our sales have greatly increased. Strangers have stopped at our display window to read, a number of whom have come in to inquire about publications shown.

Building a permanent home for our Reading Room has been a rewarding experience for every member of our church, because each has had a part in aiding our Reading Room to better fulfill its purpose.

Approximately three years before the opening of our building the church members voted that the Reading Room committee should look for a suitable ground-floor location for our Reading Room. Later a series of membership inspirational meetings in the interest of Reading Rooms was held. As more of our members worked for and participated in these meetings, the recognition of our need for a representative downtown Reading Room developed. A committee was appointed to survey the area in which a Reading Room would be most accessible.
