Early in my experience as a young student of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I was healed of smoking when I realized that this habit was not in accordance with what I was reading and studying. Colds and a very unpleasant and uncomfortable bunion disappeared when the scientific fact of their nothingness was realized. Frequent migraine headaches and the fear of these attacks also finally yielded to the truth.

At the time I was elected First Reader in a branch church I was wearing reading glasses. Within a couple of days after the election, it came to me while I was knowing the truth that the glasses had no place in the work I had to do. I set them aside and tried to realize the truth concerning true vision. Within a few days I had no further need for the glasses, nor could I even remember where they were. The healing has been permanent.

During this period of service my dear sister passed on in another city; but the grace of God was at hand to keep my thought "in the secret place of the most High" (Ps. 91:1). This gave me peace of mind and met the argument of personal loss.
