A BALANCED SUPPLY FOR ALL
"Take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? ... For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matt. 6:31—33). This passage from the Bible rings out as a challenge to each and all of us to be awake to one of the greatest commands ever voiced by the Master: "Seek ye first the kingdom of God." Well may we pause often for moments of prayerful self-examination to search our thoughts and see if we are truly seeking for spiritual understanding, for all that reveals the kingdom of heaven within.
During these moments of self-examination, if we can honestly say that God comes first in our affection we are certain to see made manifest the blessings which accompany this acknowledgment. Admitting that Truth is the supreme power in our lives, we become increasingly aware that His love is ever present to supply the spiritual ideas which bring us our daily supplies of joy, health, and security; for it is God's province to maintain the identity, individuality, and permanency of all His ideas.
Human existence in its varied aspects is today much as it was during Jesus' time. The quest for food, shelter, clothing, place, and power occupied as much of mankind's attention then as it does now. It has always been a question of paramount importance with individuals and families where their daily supply was to be found and how it should be maintained. Christ Jesus was the most practical man the world has ever known; he was ever inspired by the knowledge that love fulfills God's law. His love of God and man enabled him to meet the human need of those who daily followed him. Under no circumstance did he give credence to lack. He maintained his trust in God, and through his spiritual understanding of Mind as the source of all substance he utilized that which was available and demonstrated the needful supply for all. Through his tender love and constant example he proved to the world the fallacy of dependence on matter for supply.
