HEALING IS REVERSING AND REPLACING

True healing is the destruction of a false concept through Truth. In the first chapter of Genesis it is recorded—and repeated for emphasis—that God created man in His own likeness, the image of Himself. Since God is Spirit, man of necessity is spiritual, whole, and perfect, like the Father. The false sense, the mist that went up from the earth to becloud and confuse, as recorded in Genesis (2:6), is all that needs to be dispelled in order that the glorious freedom and joy and the perfect health of the true and only man may be seen.

The word concept is defined as "a thought;…a mental image of an action or thing;" and "heal" has this interesting meaning: "To restore to original purity or integrity." Obviously, then, healing is the recognition that a discordant condition is to be replaced with the true idea. This reversal of error and replacement with the true idea reveals and restores the original purity and perfection and destroys the falsity. This was the method of healing used by the master Metaphysician, Christ Jesus. His spiritualized thought looked away from the error of belief into the truth of being, the perfection of God and man, and this spiritual seeing, or knowing, manifests healing.

Mary Baker Eddy discovered that matter is a misstatement of fact, a misrepresentation of truth, an illusion of physical sense. She found it to be the subjective state of what she termed mortal mind, a false concept of being. True Mind, or God, she found to be immortal, proving conclusively that such a state as mortal mind, with all it entails of mortal discord, is an impossibility, since Mind is God and God is All.
