When a child, I thought a great deal about God; but when I asked questions of my Sunday School teacher, the answers were unsatisfactory to me. I became disinterested in my religion, and for a few years I did not attend any church.

Shortly after I was married, while living in a small community, I met a Christian Science family. After reading a pamphlet on Christian Science which they had loaned to me, I knew I had found what I had always wanted. I borrowed a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and read it constantly.

From the day I began to read, I had many healings and proofs of the fact that I had indeed found Truth. My first healing was that of fear of falling trees during severe windstorms. I was also healed of a severe burn on my foot. The foot swelled up and looked so bad that fear of gangrene was expressed. However, at no time did I feel pain, and I was able to go on with my housework as usual. In a few days the healing was complete. A little later, by talking to a friend who was a student of Christian Science, I was healed of grief when a much-loved brother passed on.
