THE MAINTENANCE OF ONE MIND

The surpassing importance to the human race of the discovery of Christian Science, its fulfillment of prophecy and revelation to our God-inspired Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, cannot be truly estimated. It constitutes the most significant and dynamic event in our time and perhaps in human history.

Christ Jesus was the individual exemplification of man's spiritual sonship with God. His life and works were a demonstration of the Christ, of which he was the highest human representative. But he left no scientific rule for the application of his sayings. His teachings and those of his immediate followers have remained more or less obscure, needing a scientific exposition and interpretation. Christian Science is, as Mary Baker Eddy, its revelator, declares, the key to the Scriptures. She points out that as we come to understand its teachings, the words and works of the Master and the inspired spiritual meanings in the Bible become increasingly illumined.

Until the discovery of Christian Science, God, the adorable One and only, had never been clearly and scientifically explained. The revelation of Christian Science presents a complete and logical understanding of the Godhead, intelligently elucidated and fully analyzed in the synonyms: Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, and Love. In the Bible the concept of God as infinite Mind seems not to be frequently or fully stated, although it is in many ways indicated. Paul must have discerned the infinity and oneness of Mind, for he writes in his epistle to the Romans (11:33, 36): "O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his was past finding out!... For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever."
