How grateful I am today that I...

How grateful I am today that I was enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School at the age of three and during later years, when there seemed to be so many other attractions, was gently but firmly told that first things must be put first. As a child, the logic of Christian Science appealed to me. I was told, for instance, that if I "put first things first." the rest of the day would be much happier. And so it always proved.

While of Sunday School age, I experienced many healings. Colds were healed instantly, and sicknesses and the results of accidents always yielded quickly through help from a loved practitioner or from my own and my mother's work. So-called academic inabilities and the fear of school examinations were a more serious challenge to me, but each time an erroneous suggestion appeared it was handled successfully when I put what I knew of Christian Science into practice earnestly and studied my schoolwork honestly.

During World War II, while I was serving in the Navy for three and a half years, I had many experiences of protection through using the truths I had learned of God and man in the Sunday School, as well as through the consecration of my mother, who saw the importance of relinquishing the false concept of creation and replacing it with the true concept of man in God's image and likeness.
