More than twenty years ago I purchased the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. From my first reading of this great book I knew that I had found the truth for which I had been longing; and I was healed of extreme nervousness, a quick temper, constipation from which I had suffered since childhood, hemorrhoids, and backaches that were almost unbearable at times. Also many fears were overcome. The healings mentioned above came about just from my reading the textbook, and they have been permanent. Other physical difficulties have been overcome, sometimes through my own work, and again with the help of a practitioner.

I should like to relate a more recent healing of a badly burned hand. I picked up with my barehand a grill under which the gas flame had just been turned off. For a moment I held the red-hot grill before I realized what had happened. As I dropped it, the words from a hymn came to mind (Christian Science Hymnal, No.108):
