Signs of the times

Amid our busy lives with the many calls upon our time and energy, it would be well for all of us to stop now and then and be quiet long enough to hear the voice of God speaking to us in prayer. Sometimes we get so involved in our day-by-day living that we neglect the all-important periods of quietness and receptiveness wherein we lift our eyes beyond the horizons of this world and catch new visions and inspirations from God....

The real escapists are the non-religionists who go their way oblivious of the work that needs to be done in the world that the world may be made ready for the coming of God's kingdom. But those who win battles are those who prepare for them, and the way the Christian prepares for the battles against evil is through prayer. Through silently and receptively waiting before God, the Christian receives power from sources that are not of this world.... We need to continually stop and center our direction on God and in a quiet receptiveness listen for His voice....
