In the Manual of The Mother Church...

In the Manual of The Mother Church (Art. VIII, Sect. 24) Mrs. Eddy counsels us: "'Glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's' (St. Paul). Testimony in regard to the healing of the sick is highly important. More than a mere rehearsal of blessings, it scales the pinnacle of praise and illustrates the demonstration of Christ, 'who healeth all thy diseases' (Psalm 103:3)." I can indeed testify to the healing power of Christian Science.

My first healing in Christian Science occurred when I was a child of five. At that time we were living in a small community in New Mexico. My father was interested in Christian Science at the time, but my mother was not. I became very ill with what seemed to be poison resulting from a bite. The nearest doctor was stationed at a village some twenty-five miles away, and when my condition became alarming, my father asked my mother if she would consent to Christian Science treatment for me. By this time she was so concerned over my condition that she said she was willing to try anything.

My Father wired a practitioner in the nearest city, about a hundred miles away, and treatment was begun. Some time after this, my mother, who was alone in the house watching over me, suddenly seemed to hear a voice which said, "Don't worry; she will be all right." She said it startled her; and as she listened, the angel message was repeated. When my father came home a few minutes later, she repeated her experience to him, and he said that he had had a similar experience and had been prompted to come home. From that time on I began to improve. In a day or two I was up and playing out of doors, perfectly free. I shall always be grateful for this healing because it has been to me a sort of beacon light.
