Christian Science came to my notice about nine years ago. The religious beliefs of an orthodox church had failed to solve the growing problems of adulthood for me. I suffered from fears, a sense of limitation, restricted capacities, and worst of all, belief of frailty.

At first I rejected Christian Science, believing that an theory based upon a religious premise is a barrier to truth. However, when a physical need arose I decided to see if Christian Science would really heal. And so, with a certain degree of skepticism, I read the testimonies of healing in a borrowed copy of the Sentinel. These accounts gave me sufficient confidence to consult a practitioner, who so arrested my fears that I felt for the first time that very real sense of harmony and true substance which Christian Scientists enjoy. The healing was complete, being followed over the years with demonstrations of confidence, success in many and varied endeavors, including active infantry service in World War II, more intelligence, spiritual poise, and a grand sense of dominion, which I found to be dependent on my mastery of the material senses through spiritual understanding.

Upon discharge from the Army I became involved in a false theory about Christian Science which depreciated the institution of the church. At this time I experienced an ingrowing toenail, which was growing worse gradually, and there was a false growth under the nail. Two physicians were consulted on different occasions, and they advised that the nail be removed. I am glad to say that throughout this whole distressing experience I was aware that only a greater understanding of God could correct my distorted thinking and permanently heal my toe.
