BE ALERT TO SERVE GOD FIRST

Christian Science teaches the allness and oneness of God, good. God is Life, Truth, and Love: He fills all space, constitutes all being, and knows nothing unlike Himself. Sin, sickness, death, in-harmony. unhappiness, and poverty are unknown to Him. As the Bible states. He created all and "behold. it was very good." Therefore, anything not good is nothing.

The Bible also tells us that "God created man in his own image;" so man, the idea, or reflection, of God, is the complete representation of all that God is and of nothing else. Man cannot sin; he cannot be sick or die. All that he can experience is good—harmony, joy, and abundance. Man and the universe are not material and finite, but spiritual and eternal.

The First Commandment (Ex. 20:3), "Thou shalt have, no other gods before me." demands that we love God and serve Him. Serving God means acknowledging Him as the only power, presence, and creator; it means seeing man as the very expression of His allness: it means recognizing the ever-presence of harmony, immortality, and infinity. Such affirmations of God's allness and man's at-one-ment with Him are also acknowledgments of the nothingness of inharmony, mortality, and finiteness.
