I am very grateful for a physical healing which I experienced as a result of the realization of the truth as stated in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. A very hard and unsightly growth appeared on a prominent part of my body. It was quite noticeable to others, and several well-meaning friends suggested that I go to a hospital and have it removed. I knew it was my thinking that needed to be corrected, and I set to work to do this. In spite of my efforts, however, the lump grew larger, and finally I felt it necessary to ask a practitioner for treatment.

The practitioner recommended that I study this statement in our textbook (p. 242): "In patient obedience to a patient God, let us labor to dissolve with the universal solvent of Love the adamant of error,—self-will, self-justification, and self-love,—which wars against spirituality and is the law of sin and death." At first I did not see how this could apply to me, but when I examined my thinking a little closer, I found some unlovely traits of character which needed to be uprooted.

I began to be more loving and kind to those around me, less demanding and less critical of those with whom I worked, and more considerate of all those with whom I came in contact. The lump began to dissolve, and it finally disappeared altogether. Although I am most grateful to be rid of the growth, I am more grateful for the lessons learned from this experience. I am extremely grateful for Christian Science and for the healing truth which it is bringing to all mankind.—Donald P. LeGalley, Washington, District of Columbia.
