Several years ago, when clearing up a shelf in our basement, I found a small bottle labeled carbolic acid. I thought that it should be thrown out, so I took the bottle outside to empty it. I could not remove the cork easily, and as I worked with it, the cork suddenly came out and the contents spilled over my hand; the hand instantly turned white and burned like fire. I immediately repeated over and over again "the scientific statement of being," written by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy (Science and Health, p. 468). I told no one and applied no material remedies; in about half an hour the burning ceased. The next morning my hand was completely healed; there was no discoloration or scar.

We have had many other healings through Christian Science in our family, some brought about by our own understanding, others by the help of practitioners.
