LET THEM HAVE DOMINION

In the twenty-sixth verse of the first chapter of Genesis we are told, "God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."

In the measure that we rise above the belief of a self apart from God and see ourself as His image, we are equipped to express man's God-given dominion. Christian Science reveals that the likeness of God is fashioned of the substance of Spirit and so is not material, hence not subject to the beliefs and dreams of a so-called mortal mind. As we prove that in reality "we live, and move, and have our being" in God, as Paul said (Acts 17:28), we are completely shielded from all the subtle suggestions of material thinking that would creep in and rob us of the joy and happiness, health and harmony, which are man's by divine right.

With the authority of God's Word to support our endeavors, we are enabled to realize that no circumstance or condition can arise over which we, as the expression of God, do not have complete control. We know that wherever we seem to be, according to mortal testimony—on the earth, over the earth, or in the waters under the earth—the power of God, the power of good, rules. No untoward situation can dominate us, provided we consciously claim our true status.
