ENTERTAINING ANGELS

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Jamie was very happy to help his parents when they entertained guests. Sometimes the guest was a complete stranger, but whoever it was, Jamie helped to make him feel at home. His little brother, Tommy, was even more interested in entertaining strangers.

Although both boys were happy to attend a local Christian Science Sunday School, Jamie was puzzled for quite a while by the subject of angels. His mother helped him by reading from the Bible (Hebr. 13:1,2): "Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."

One day the boys discovered that angels were often stranger-thoughts waiting to be welcomed and entertained. Their mother said: "A new and good idea for helping someone might at first be a 'stranger' to you. Before you could use it, you would have to entertain it." Jamie was then reminded of his efforts to entertain certain guests in the house who had been strangers at first.
