Signs of the Times

J. D. McCrae in a column in the United Church Observer Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Micah's great affirmation of God's requirements set over against the ceremonialism of his time, which assumed God could be bought over by formal sacrifices, is still a great charter for our day. "What doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" And Jesus makes the similar appeal in his language— "Love the Lord thy God...and thy neighbour as thyself."

The Rev. Edgar F. Reibetanz in the Muscatine Journal, Iowa
