A SCIENTIFIC CHALLENGE

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE challenges the growing tendency of human thought to stifle individual initiative. It stands firm in an age when human organizations and systems of government would attempt to do for the individual what he alone can do for himself—prove man's unity with God in demonstration of Love's care of its own child; and this it does by revealing the spiritual facts of existence.

One fact which must come to light, and which is coming to light through the revelation of Christian Science, is that man is not an earthly mortal, but the spiritual idea of divine Mind, God. As Mind's definite outlined idea, individual man is inviolable and indestructible. Mary Baker Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 103), "In Science, form and individuality are never lost, thoughts are outlined, individualized ideas, which dwell forever in the divine Mind as tangible, true substance, because eternally conscious."

Many social measures designed to make material existence easy and effortless are merely subtle attempts of the one evil to suppress the appearing of individual spiritual man, an appearing which spells the doom of the carnal mind. These measures rob men of the sublime necessity of demonstrating the intelligence which constitutes abundance, health, and spiritual power.
