I wish to express my heartfelt...
I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to Christian Science for the many wonderful blessings which I have experienced.
About seventeen years ago, when my husband passed on, it seemed to mortal sense almost more than I could bear, as it was during the so-called depression and we had lost everything we had except each other. However, through the good work of a practitioner and a dear sister-in-law and her husband, who also were in Science, I was so completely healed of any sense of loss that I was able to attend the Wednesday testimony meeting the night before the funeral and join in the singing with no sense of sorrow, only peace. About a year later at the passing on of my mother, this healing was still with me.
After my husband's passing, it seemed necessary to get some sort of work immediately, but to mortal sense there just were not any jobs. I worked on "employment" and "service" to the best of my knowledge and knew there was a place for me. One day I was asked by a charitable organization to work at their headquarters. This meant putting in six to eight hours a day six days a week, but with no salary. On first thought I was going to refuse because I could not see how I could take a position with no pay whatever, since I had to live. That night I took up work on this, and the thought came to me: You have asked divine Love to lead you to employment. Well, here it is, and why hesitate because there is no remuneration? It certainly is God's work, and if that is your place, He will provide. Needless to say, I took the job and stayed there several months and was provided with everything I needed. At the end of this period, through a friend who was affiliated with this organization, I was offered a good position at a salary much more than the prevailing wage.
