GOD THE ONLY SOURCE OR CREATOR

THE only creator is God. Mankind quite generally believes in a power outside and above itself, but the concepts of God or of that power differ widely. God revealed Himself to Moses as "I AM THAT I AM." Christ Jesus prayed (Matt. 6:9), "Our Father which art in heaven," and Christian Science, through Mary Baker Eddy, gives us the spiritual interpretation of that line as, "Our Father-Mother God, all-harmonious" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 16). God is infinite Being, the Father and Mother of the universe. Christian Science, which is the promised Comforter, reveals God as Spirit, Mind, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love.

That God is wholly good and causes only that which is good is a fundamental truth of Christian Science. Many a weary and discouraged heart has found needed strength, encouragement, and comfort in that fact. It brings the healing power which was so effectively utilized by Jesus of Nazareth as he went about healing the sick, reforming the sinner, and raising the dead, and its truth is demonstrated in Christian Science.

We accept the fact that the sun is the source of light for the earth, and we would not easily be argued into believing that because the sun shines on one person there will be less sunshine for another. In a similar way we do not believe that one man is sick because another has an overabundance of health. But the problem of supply is not so readily seen to be one based upon equity. Nations and individuals have been classified as "haves" or "have nots." And the struggle by nations and individuals to readjust and remedy this uneven distribution has not met with much success. The reason for this is not difficult to find. From mortal mind, with its beliefs about a material universe, proceed all sorts of limitations. Mortal mind itself is a belief of limitation and begets greed, selfishness, unfairness, exploitation.
