At the close of World War I, an aunt placed a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy in the hands of my mother, who had been an invalid for three years. Seven physicians considered her condition to be incurable. My aunt knew nothing of Christian Science at that time, but had heard it said that people had been healed by reading that book.

As her strength permitted, my mother read the first chapter, entitled "Prayer," a little at a time. On the third day, when she came to the last page of that chapter, she found that she could repeat the statement, "Thy will be done," from the Lord's Prayer with joy and confidence. She had been afraid of those words before because of her mistaken belief that God had sent her afflictions. After praying those words without any mental reservations, she was able to get up from her bed, dress herself, and go downstairs unaided. She was healed and has been active ever since.

Christian Science has met every need in our home throughout the intervening years. Physical ills have been healed; broken bones mended; employment and supply have been provided; grief has been healed.
