Signs of the Times
Dr. W. R. Matthews, Dean of St. Paul's in a column in the Daily Telegraph London, England
All four Gospels tell of the feeding of a large crowd which had come to hear Jesus, and we may therefore assume that the incident left a deep impression on the minds of the disciples. ...
The central fact is that there was a great need and that the material resources to meet it were apparently totally inadequate. But those concerned did not sit down in despair. They used what they had, and when the gifts were offered to Christ the were enough, and more than enough, to feed the multitude.
